Promoting a Web Site on the Internet, A Practical Guide to Attracting Visitors

Look, promoting a web site, what should you do and what should be avoided? Take some time and write down a clear precise plan of attack along with your goals so that you have something to work for.

Entrepreneur, David Jenyns says, now go and look at how much traffic you are getting to your website. Depending on how many visitors you are getting will determine the goals that you have set up for yourself. Keep a long term SEO plan in mind when promoting a website.

Your making a sizeable investment with your website so don’t cut out writing down your plan because you think it is something that can be overlooked. The better your written plan is, the better results you will obtain when you start to promote your website. Will one income be replacing another? If so, the more planning you have to do.

Many people ask me about outsourcing the jobs I have to another person. Should I outsource or do all the jobs myself. When you are first starting out you should do all the jobs yourself so that you have a better understanding of what to do. Then when you outsource you’ll feel better about the free time you have to do other things. That is why it’s good to write everything down. On your check list, put goals and dates next to each task you want to accomplish.

Once you make up your mind on what niche you will be targeting, you’ll want to have a wide variety of keywords that will bring you as much traffic as possible. Keep them all listed in an excel spread sheet along with the URLs. It is best to set up a blog and write articles. There is on page and off page optimization that you will be doing.

Put some good effort into the article you will be posting on and off of your website. I’ve seen people put up the worst articles on their Web 2.0 pages. That is considered spam and you can get banned from search engines doing this type of activity.

SEO can be fun and exciting. It’s nice to see your website at the top of the search engines. Make sure when you optimize your website that you put up the best content for the user. There’s nothing worse then going to a website that is disorganized and full of junk.

You can’t just go to your favorite search engine and see what to do or what not to do. They don’t do that. Don’t just get a high ranking for the sake of getting a high ranking. When promoting a website keep the end user in mind. People that surf the internet don’t like looking at overused junk.
